What's the deal with fat people getting the blue pass?!

Why is that nearly every fat ass out there who can't stop eating cheeseburgers or walk a few extra hundred miles each day can stand in line (for a few hours) at the DMV and register for handicapped plates or hangers?!  I just don't understand the mentality.  Wouldn't you want to walk the extra oh I don't know, 25 feet each way?  I understand your knees may hurt but c'mon, who's fault is that?  Almost two thirds of the time I'm looking for a space I see Sherly and her three obese children getting out of their Buick or Oldsmobile.

Now on the flip side of this argument, I don't see why someone like me who is simply in a wheelchair and fully capable of rolling the extra 25 feet should get a plate or hanger either.  I typically only park in the blue because it's easier to get my chair out of the side of my van.  Yes I could park farther back in the lot but their is always that one person who parks on the side I use to get in.  Then I "have to" scratch their car trying to get into my car and wonder if I'm supposed to feel bad or accomplished.  I just don't think obesity should ever be a reason to get to park in the blue.  Or old people unless of course they can't walk or something like that.  Either way, once they are on wheels, it's less work.  I guess it's hard for the DMV's around the country to say who "needs" one and who doesn't.  Really it's the doctor's fault for writing a letter of recommendation.

Another thing that gets me is why their is usually a shopping cart in the blue spot?!  Every time I see one I think to myself, now what does the asshole look like who thought the big ol' spot next to them was a place for lazy people (probably fat or getting pretty damn fat) to roll their carts.  Not to mention the fifteen year old who has to walk around and collect rouge carts.  It's simply rude!  Return your damn carts people.  What I've learned from years of watching this happen is that it's everyone ... big, fat, small, tall, short, old, young, the works.  No stereo type is left out.  So that makes me feel a little better.  I'd hate to have to blame a certain race or ethnic group.

Welcome!

I'm excited, this is my first post on my brand new web site!  My plan for the site is simple, review how accessible music festivals or venues really are.  I'm not an ADA expert, I haven't taken any classes or seminars I just live life on my wheels.  I find it really interesting what some consider accessible and what others don't.  Most of my posts will be complaints.  Some will be worthy of praise.   I of course appreciate any help I can get when attending a show or festival and we must not forget that.  Something is better then nothing but there is that gray area sometimes where really I'd rather have nothing accessible offered because of how poorly organized or managed it is such as in the case of Bonnaroo 07.

I also hope to grow the site in the future to include reviews of durable medical equipment such as catheters, wheelchairs, shower seats, etc.  Basically everything I wish I could find on the web but written by those who use it, not a marketing engineer.  I'm also really tired of finding really lame forums where someone is looking for sympathy or apethy.  I don't need to be pulled up, pushed maybe, but not pulled up.  I want to focus on the positives of being in a wheelchair or living with a disability.  Like how in the state of Texas we are exempt from paying sales tax on our cars IF we install hand controls.  Or that you can qualify for all sorts of tax exemptions when you own you're own home or if you're renting.  It may be the road less traveled but I'm confident their are many of you out there who are like me in that regard.

Please check back soon for my Unofficial Bonnaroo 07 Accessibility review.  I'm only one voice of course so I'm sure you may have a different opinion but that's the beauty, we can all share our own experiences.
